Professor Srinivas Reddy will outline the growth and development of Buddhism from its beginnings in modern day Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in India. He will explore how Buddhism first spread through South Asia and then beyond, reaching all the way to Japan. Professor Reddy will also examine the appeal of modern Buddhism and its spread in the West.
The professor will highlight Buddhism’s different regional practices, how they are rooted in local cultures and also how they have led to social transformation. In a nutshell, he will explain the deeply rooted nature of Buddhist experience across time and space.
