Nav–Ras: Appreciating Hindustani Raga Music is a nine-part interactive online course designed to introduce and explore the classical raga music of North India. Topics to be covered include:

(1) Class Overview and Basics: Tānpura, Sargam, Notation, Historical Outline;
(2) Defining Rāga: Svara, Ārohi, Avarohi, Vādi, Samvādi, Ālāp;
(3) Exploring Rāga: Classifications, Ṭhāṭs, Sargams, Svara-Vistār;
(4) Exploring Rāga Continued: Melakarta System, Raga Chalan;
(5) Exploring Tāla: Bols, Ṭhekā, Rhythmic Cycles, Tihais;
(6) Styles and Structures of Performance Genres: Gharanas, Bandishes, Gats;
(7) Great Maestros/Classic Recordings – Instrumental;
(8) Great Maestros/Classic Recordings – Vocal; and
(9) Class Review and Performance: Review of Concepts and Listening Skills
